AccessibilityAccessibility Statement
Governance education is only useful if everyone can reach it. This is how we build for that, and how to tell us when we have fallen short.
Effective date: September 1, 2026
Our commitment
Civitas Governance Group, LLC is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.
Target standard
This website is designed and built toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing practice rather than a one-time certification, and the site is reviewed as content is added.
Measures built into this website
- A skip-to-content link at the start of every page
- Semantic HTML with a single, ordered heading hierarchy on each page
- Body, secondary, and muted text tested to meet WCAG AA contrast on every background used; gold used as text is darkened specifically so that it passes
- Visible keyboard focus indicators on every interactive element
- A navigation drawer that is fully keyboard operable, announces its state, and closes on Escape
- Form fields with persistent visible labels, required-field marking, and status messages announced to assistive technology
- Expandable panels built with native HTML elements, so they open and close with the keyboard and work without JavaScript
- Motion limited to short, one-time reveals, and disabled entirely when the operating system requests reduced motion
- Layouts that reflow to a single column without horizontal scrolling, and text that remains readable when enlarged
- Descriptive alternative text for every photograph, written so that what an image conveys is available to anyone who cannot see it
- Content and navigation that do not depend on JavaScript: every element renders visible by default, and the navigation is a plain list when scripting is unavailable. Scripting adds motion and convenience only
Where we are still improving
- Descriptive alternative text is written for each image as it is added, so that what the picture conveys is available to anyone who cannot see it.
- Any third-party component introduced later — such as a payment or email platform — is checked separately, because we cannot assume an outside tool meets our standard.
- We continue to test this site with assistive technology and treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a finished task.
Alternative formats
If you need a Civitas resource, assessment, or educational material in an alternative format, tell us what would work best and we will provide it where we reasonably can.
Tell us about a barrier
